Background & context

Zwischen 1793 und 1794 stand die Guillotine auf der Place de la Révolution und arbeitete im Akkord. Ludwig XVI. starb hier, Marie-Antoinette ebenso, und im Juli 1794 holte die Maschine Robespierre selbst, der den Terror organisiert hatte. Rund um das Gerüst hatte sich ein makabrer Alltag eingerichtet: Schaulustige kamen wie ins Theater, und die Tricoteuses, strickende Frauen in den vordersten Reihen, wurden zum festen Bild der Revolution.

On the tabletop

This bundle combines the MDF guillotine by Sarissa Precision with the seven metal figures around the scaffold: a pair of assistant executioners, the prisoner strapped to the plank, Robespierre, a tricoteuse with her knitting, a sans-culotte showing off a severed head and a basket of heads. In Black Powder it does not make a unit but a stage for scenarios of the revolutionary period, such as a raid on a square full of onlookers or the rescue of a condemned prisoner. Historically the guillotine stood on the Place de la Révolution in 1793 and 1794, and in July 1794 Robespierre himself died there. The flags on the painted model are not included.
