Background & context

Das Königreich Sardinien-Piemont saß genau dort, wo Frankreich nach Italien wollte, und wehrte sich vier Jahre lang in den Alpentälern. Die Armee war klein, das Gelände ihr wichtigster Verbündeter: Pässe, Schanzen und Winter hielten die Republik länger auf, als deren Generäle eingeplant hatten. 1796 führte Bonaparte seinen ersten eigenen Feldzug gegen sie, umging die Stellungen und erzwang binnen zwei Wochen den Waffenstillstand von Cherasco.

On the tabletop

The Kingdom of Sardinia-Piedmont defended the Alpine passes against Revolutionary France for four years, and this regiment represents its infantry in Black Powder. The 19 marching soldiers are led by an officer, an NCO, a musician and two colours. The army was small and made use of passes, redoubts and terrain, so you prefer to deploy it in positions in hilly country. Its main opponent is Bonaparte's army in the campaign of 1796.
