Product details

Background & context

The Panzer II was intended as a stopgap until enough Panzer IIIs and IVs had been built, and yet it became the numerical backbone of the Blitzkrieg years. With its 2cm cannon and one MG it was effective against infantry and unarmoured targets, and hopelessly outmatched against French and Soviet tanks. From 1942 it disappeared from the front lines and served on with training and security units. Its chassis later carried the Wespe and the Marder II.

On the tabletop

At the start of the war the Panzer II was Germany's most numerous tank, and in Bolt Action it belongs in early-war German armoured platoons in Europe and North Africa. Its 2 cm autocannon pins down enemy infantry and threatens lightly armoured vehicles, but it is outmatched by French and Soviet tanks. So use it to accompany the infantry and avoid tank duels. You choose the Ausf. A, B or C during assembly, and a crew figure is included.
