    Hintergrund & Einordnung

    The Polish cavalry enjoyed an excellent reputation in the Napoleonic era - their horsemen were considered experienced, daring, and battle-hardened. Confrontations with mounted steppe warriors from the East had familiarized Polish units early on with the use of long lances, which offered a decisive range advantage over sabers and bayonets. As part of Napoleon's forces, Polish lancers fought on almost all major theaters of war - from the Iberian Peninsula deep into Russia. Their colorful uniform and the distinctive czapka headpiece made them one of the most striking appearances of the era.

    Einsatz im Spiel

    Polish Line Light Horse Lancers function in Black Powder, Sharp Practice, and Sharpe's Rifles as a cavalry unit for reconnaissance, flank attacks, and pursuing routed enemies. Cavalry is particularly strong when exploiting open flanks or threatening disordered formations. The focus is on the Peninsular War, the 1812 Russian Campaign, and general Napoleonic engagements. The national assignments of Poland and France help in building suitable forces and scenarios.
