Product details

Background & context

Discipline in Wellington's army rested on harsh punishment. A court martial could order hundreds of lashes with the cat o' nine tails, and the provost marshal also hanged plunderers. Wellington was this strict because abuses would have turned the local people against the British. Even so, after the victory at Vitoria in 1813 the soldiers looted the French baggage train so thoroughly that the pursuit stalled.

On the tabletop

Blake does not have to stand in the closed line. In Black Powder you can deploy him with other single figures as a skirmish screen in front of a British battalion, loosely spread on individual bases so the formation is obvious at a glance. Because every figure in the veterans range looks different, you end up with a skirmish line in which no two men are alike.
