Product details

Background & context

Wellington's troops stormed the fortress of Badajoz on the Spanish and Portuguese border on the night of 6 to 7 April 1812. The British lost several thousand men in the breaches, and the volunteers of the first wave were known as the Forlorn Hope. Once the town fell, the soldiers sacked it for about three days until Wellington had gallows put up. Few events show as clearly how close courage and brutality lay in this army.

On the tabletop

Sieges such as Ciudad Rodrigo or Badajoz call for storming columns that go for a breach. Pendleton fits into such a unit, built from British line infantry and broken up with individual character figures. In Black Powder you can play the assault as a scenario of its own, with a stretch of wall and a breach, in which the attackers have to reach the rampart under fire.
