Product details

Background & context

On 10 April 1814 Wellington fought Soult at Toulouse, unaware that Napoleon had abdicated a few days earlier. The news only reached the armies afterwards. The Peninsular army then broke up: several regiments were shipped from Bordeaux to North America, others returned to Britain or Ireland. Many soldiers were discharged, often with a meagre pension or none at all.

On the tabletop

In games with several players per side, each one takes charge of a brigade. Samuels stands in a battalion of the brigade led by one player, while another commands the cavalry or the Portuguese allies. In Black Powder a commander-in-chief sets the direction and the brigade commanders carry it out. That brings planning and the odd misunderstanding to the table, just as on a real campaign.
