Pugh is a Welsh surname that grew out of ap Hugh, son of Hugh. Clifford Pugh shares it with Crawford Pugh from the same range of British Peninsular veterans. A single figure in 28mm Warlord Resin.

Background & context

Many British regiments had two battalions. While the first was on campaign, the second often stayed in Britain or Ireland, did garrison duty there and sent replacements, known as drafts, out to the first battalion in Portugal. Second battalions that fought on the Peninsula themselves and had shrunk badly were combined by Wellington into provisional battalions from 1812, rather than sending their experienced men home.

On the tabletop

Together with Crawford Pugh, Clifford makes a pair you can place side by side in the same Black Powder unit. You decide yourself whether they are brothers, cousins or men who simply share a name. In narrative games such a pair gives you material for small side stories, for example when one of them is left behind wounded. In game terms the unit remains an ordinary British battalion.
