Background & context

Ein britisches Bataillon von 1815 trug zwei Fahnen ins Feld: die King's Colour im Union-Muster und die Regimental Colour in der Farbe der Regimentsaufschläge. Getragen wurden sie von blutjungen Ensigns, gedeckt von einer Wache erfahrener Sergeants. Bei Waterloo war das kein Zeremoniell, denn im Pulverdampf war die Fahne oft das Einzige, woran ein Bataillon seine eigene Front noch erkannte. Wer sie verlor, verlor mehr als ein Stück Stoff.

On the tabletop

With these six command figures and two flagpoles with finials you lead a British line battalion of 1815 in Black Powder. You choose the flags yourself; historically every battalion carried the King's Colour and a Regimental Colour in its facing colour, borne by young ensigns and guarded by experienced NCOs. On the table the colours show you where your front is. The group is intended for Waterloo and the 1815 campaign.
