Background & context

British hussar regiments were regarded as expensive, loud and hard to control, and that is exactly why they rode in front. In the Iberian Peninsula they covered Wellington's advances and retreats, and at Waterloo they stood beside horsemen of the King's German Legion. Their headgear changed several times between 1808 and 1815, so that men of the same regiment looked quite different depending on the year of the campaign. Hanoverian hussars largely adopted the British pattern.

On the tabletop

Five types of headgear per figure let these 14 British hussars cover the whole period from 1808 to 1815. For the summer campaigns in Spain you leave off the pelisse. In games the hussars ride ahead, cover the advances and withdrawals of your army and take on enemy light cavalry. At Waterloo they stand beside regiments of the King's German Legion, and in the Peninsula alongside Wellington's infantry.
