    Marlboroughs Marsch von den Niederlanden an die Donau im Sommer 1704 gilt bis heute als Meisterstück: fünfhundert Kilometer, eine getäuschte französische Führung und am Ende eine Armee, die kampffähig ankam. Am 13. August schlug er zusammen mit Prinz Eugen das franko-bayerische Heer bei Blindheim, rettete Wien und nahm Bayern aus dem Krieg. Die Nachricht an seine Frau kritzelte er auf einen Wirtshauszettel.

    On the tabletop

    This vignette shows Marlborough on horseback writing his victory dispatch after Blenheim, after Robert Alexander Hillingford's well-known painting. In Black Powder or Pike & Shotte you place it as the high command of your British-Allied army or use it as a scene at the end of a game. Historically Marlborough and Prince Eugene defeated the Franco-Bavarian army on 13 August 1704 after he had marched his army from the Low Countries to the Danube.
