Background & context

Die leichten Bataillone der King's German Legion trugen grüne Röcke und führten teils gezogene Büchsen statt glatter Musketen. Bei La Haye Sainte wurde genau das zum Verhängnis: Die Verteidiger schossen sich leer, und Nachschub ließ sich nicht aus den Beständen der Linieninfanterie decken, weil deren Patronen im falschen Kaliber lagen. Nach sechs Stunden mussten die Männer das Gehöft räumen, nicht weil sie zurückgeschlagen wurden, sondern weil nichts mehr zu laden war.

On the tabletop

Green jackets and rifled weapons mark out the six riflemen of the 2nd Light Battalion of the King's German Legion. In Black Powder you send them ahead of your own line as skirmishers, where they hit the enemy at longer range before his columns close in. Hedges, orchards and farm buildings give them cover. For a scenario around La Haye Sainte, which the Legion held for six hours at Waterloo, combine them with the musket-armed men of the same battalion.
