Background & context

Die King's German Legion entstand 1803, nachdem Napoleon das Kurfürstentum Hannover besetzt und dessen Armee aufgelöst hatte. Britische Werber sammelten die entlassenen Soldaten ein, brachten sie über die Nordsee und stellten binnen Monaten ein vollständiges Korps aus Infanterie, Kavallerie und Artillerie auf. Die Legion galt bald als einer der zuverlässigsten Verbände in britischem Dienst und kämpfte auf Walcheren, in Spanien und 1815 in Belgien, ohne je ein eigenes Heer zu bilden.

On the tabletop

In the 2nd Light Battalion of the King's German Legion, the musket-armed men made up most of the soldiers who returned to close order after skirmishing. With these six metal figures you build the core of a KGL unit in Black Powder that occupies buildings, hedges and walls. At Waterloo the battalion, together with parts of the 1st Light and 5th Line Battalions, defended the farm of La Haye Sainte. The riflemen of the same range complete the unit for this scenario.
