Product details

Background & context

On the tabletop

These three mounted command figures put leadership on a unit of French Gendarmes, the heavy lancers of the Italian Wars, in Pike & Shotte. A nobleman with his coat of arms and retinue rode at their head, and the standard helps you find your squadron in the melee. The Gendarmes were the last form of the armoured knight and belong where a crushing lance charge is meant to decide the battle. Historically the companies wore their captain's colours.
