Product details

Background & context

In European and Mediterranean towns and villages the church was almost always the tallest building, and so the best vantage point for miles around. Observers directed artillery fire from bell towers, which is why towers regularly came under fire in the Second World War even though they counted as cultural heritage. From the Thirty Years' War through the Napoleonic campaigns to Normandy in 1944 the same pattern appears: whoever holds the church tower sees the battlefield.

On the tabletop

This church with bell tower measures 31 x 19 x 23 cm and forms the centre of a European or Mediterranean village. From the tower an observer or sniper overlooks much of the table, so your opponent will try to dislodge him early on. It works in Pike & Shotte and Black Powder as well as Bolt Action, from the 17th century to the Second World War. The hard plastic kit includes building instructions.
