Product details

Background & context

Renaissance heavy cavalry included demi-lancers and reiters (pistoliers). Plate armour, lances, and firearms ensured cavalry remained a vital battlefield element from the 15th to 17th centuries. This box can be broadly used for early modern European armies.

On the tabletop

You build the twelve heavy riders in three-quarter armour as demi-lancers with long lances or as pistoleers with sword and wheel-lock or matchlock pistols. The lancers seek the direct shock, while the pistoleers fire as they ride in and then fight with the sword. Horse armour is optional, and eight war dogs complete the box. With hats and helmets the unit suits armies from the 15th into the 17th century, for example in the French Wars of Religion.
