    Background & context

The Folgore had been raised as an airborne division for the jump on Malta. The operation never came; instead it arrived in the desert on foot and in October 1942 held the southern sector of the Italo-German front at El Alamein, with hand grenades and a few anti-tank weapons against British tanks. Only remnants of the division came back, but its reputation endured. The X Arditi, for their part, were special units for sabotage and commando operations behind the front.

    On the tabletop

This frame gives you 30 Italian paratroopers in M41 uniform for Bolt Action. You can build a platoon commander and medic, squads of the Folgore and Nembo divisions, Guastatori engineers and a flamethrower team with the Lanciafiamme 41. The beret heads turn the figures into a squad of the X Arditi. Beretta M38 submachine guns and improvised anti-tank grenades give the squads close-range firepower and a weapon against vehicles.
