Product details

Background & context

You can tell Bersaglieri by the black cockerel feathers on the helmet and by the fact that they parade at the double, which has been part of their training since 1836. In the Second World War many of them rode on motorcycles and lorries as the fast troops of the Italian divisions: France 1940, North Africa, the Balkans, the Eastern Front. The Semovente 75/18 was the most effective Italian vehicle of the early war years, because its short 75mm howitzer had considerably more effect than the 47mm gun of the M13/40.

On the tabletop

There is plenty of leadership in this box: 2 officers, a medic and an observer in metal. You divide the 36 multi-part Bersaglieri into three squads that set the pace of the list. MMG and medium mortar provide the fire support, and the 20mm anti-aircraft gun joins as a third team, engaging light ground targets as well as aircraft. You build the tracked vehicle as a Semovente 75/18 with the short howitzer against houses and positions, or as an M13/40 with a rotating turret if you would rather have a classic tank. Status cards and damage markers for the vehicle are included.
