    Product details

    Background & context

The Bersaglieri were raised in 1836 in the Kingdom of Sardinia as light riflemen, and to this day they wear the plume on their helmets and parade at the double. In the Second World War they provided the motorised infantry of the Italian armoured and fast divisions, travelling on trucks, motorcycles and bicycles. In North Africa they fought side by side with the Afrika Korps, often with Autoblinda armoured cars as the eyes of the formation. After the armistice of 1943 Bersaglieri fought on, on both sides.

    On the tabletop

In Bolt Action you split the 36 Bersaglieri into three squads led by two officers, while medic and observer join the headquarters. MMG and medium mortar provide covering fire, the 20mm anti-aircraft gun keeps aircraft away and rakes light vehicles. The tracked vehicle rolls out as a Semovente 75/18 against buildings and positions or as an M13/40 with a rotating turret. The two Autoblinda handle reconnaissance: they race ahead of the infantry along the flanks, seize objectives and stay out of the way of heavier tanks. That gives you a mobile Italian force for North Africa or the Balkans.
