Product details

Background & context

During the American War of Independence, Great Britain heavily relied on German auxiliary troops. Many of these contingents were generically referred to as Hessians in English-speaking areas, even though they originated from various German territories. They were considered well-trained regular troops and reinforced British forces in North America. Light infantry and grenadiers supplemented the line infantry with specialized roles.

On the tabletop

Hessians, Brunswickers or Ansbachers: in America the German auxiliaries of the Crown all went by the name of Hessians. On the sprue you decide whether the 24 figures become musketeers, fusiliers or grenadiers, and six Jager come with them. In Black Powder they strengthen the line of your British army, while the Jager work as marksmen and screen ahead of the front. Fourteen full-colour flags and a background guide are included.
