    Hintergrund & Einordnung

    During the American War of Independence, Great Britain heavily relied on German auxiliary troops. Many of these contingents were generically referred to as Hessians in English-speaking areas, even though they originated from various German territories. They were considered well-trained regular troops and reinforced British forces in North America. Light infantry and grenadiers supplemented the line infantry with specialized roles.

    Einsatz im Spiel

    The Hessian regiment supplements British-led armies of the American War of Independence with well-trained German auxiliaries. In Black Powder, it can be used as reliable line infantry or, with grenadier options, as a harder-hitting assault troop. The Jäger and light infantry options offer additional possibilities for terrain, vanguard, and skirmish duties in Sharp Practice. This makes the box particularly flexible for Crown armies with regular and specialized contingents.
