    Product details

    Background & context

Other armies fielded two different machine guns: a light one for the squad, a heavy one for the company. The Wehrmacht took the same MG 34 and changed only the mount, bipod for the assault and tripod for the blocking position. On the tripod the weapon gained an optical sight, a steadier firing position and a second man on the belt, which markedly improved range and grouping. This division shaped German infantry tactics until the last year of the war.

    On the tabletop

On its tripod and with its own crew, the MG 34 becomes a heavy support weapon that puts whole squads under fire in Bolt Action. The team belongs in the heavy weapons platoon of your German force. Set it up in cover with a clear field of fire, and from there it pins down infantry trying to cross open ground. The machine gun is metal, and the three Warlord Resin crew match the German Veteran Infantry range.
