    Hintergrund & Einordnung

    The MG 34 was the most advanced machine gun in service at the beginning of World War II and formed the backbone of German infantry tactics. Mounted on a tripod and operated by a well-practiced crew, it could be used for heavy suppressive fire, subjecting entire sections to sustained bombardment. German doctrine treated the MG differently from all other armies: the same weapon served as both a squad weapon (on a bipod) and a support weapon (on a tripod). Veteran crews distinguished themselves through experience and discipline - they knew when and how to employ fire most effectively. In Bolt Action, the German MG benefits from an additional shot per turn, making MMG teams particularly effective anti-infantry support.

    MMG teams are the foundation of a German Heavy Weapons Platoon in Bolt Action. The German MG benefits from an additional shot compared to other nations, making it particularly effective against infantry. Best positioned in covered firing positions, it controls fire lanes, slows down enemy advances, and covers flanking friendly units. Veteran status also improves its resilience under fire.
