Hintergrund & Einordnung

During the last years of World War II, German tank crews were under increasing material and personnel pressure. Engagements frequently occurred in defensive battles on the Eastern and Western Fronts - in Normandy, the Falaise Pocket, the Ardennes Offensive, and finally on the Rhine and in Berlin. Fuel shortages forced many tanks to be abandoned before they even saw combat. Crews often continued fighting as infantry after their vehicle was destroyed or abandoned - hence the dismounted figures in the set, equipped with carbines and submachine guns. Crews of heavy tanks such as the Tiger I/II or Panther enjoyed particular prestige and were considered the last veterans of a declining branch of service.

In the game, these figures serve to represent commanders or crew members on or in German late-war armored vehicles. They are particularly suitable for individual vehicle customization in late Bolt Action scenarios. Their portrayal enhances the visual credibility and historical relevance of armored units on the tabletop.
