    Product details

    Background & context

A German infantry company did not consist of rifle platoons alone. Behind it stood the heavy company with tripod-mounted medium machine guns and mortars, which laid down covering fire on call. The link to it ran through forward observers who lay well out in front and reported targets. Officers led from the front, which brought high casualty rates with it, and medical orderlies often worked in the thick of the fire. In action this handful of roles frequently decided more than the sheer number of rifles.

    On the tabletop

Behind the rifle platoons of a German Heer force in Bolt Action stand leadership and heavy weapons, and that is exactly what this metal set provides. The two officers with pistols lead as company or platoon commanders, while the forward observer and the medic fit into any rifle platoon. The medium machine gun team of three lays sustained fire on enemy infantry, and the mortar team fires in an arc at targets behind cover. Both teams belong in a heavy weapons platoon.
