    Background & context

    Im August 1793 erklärte der Konvent die gesamte Nation zum Reservoir der Armee: junge Männer an die Front, Frauen an Zelte und Uniformen, Alte auf die Marktplätze zum Anfeuern. Das Ergebnis waren Bataillone, die in Wochen entstanden und in denen Schuhmacher neben Bauernsöhnen standen. Uniformen kamen zusammen, wie sie gerade aufzutreiben waren, Drill blieb Theorie. Genau diese Mischung rettete der Republik an ihren Grenzen den Krieg.

    On the tabletop

    In August 1793 the Convention declared the whole nation a reserve for the army, and battalions were raised within weeks. This pack represents exactly those: 20 infantrymen randomly selected from a large range of variants, under an officer with an NCO, a musician and a standard bearer. In Black Powder they fill wide sections of your front while better drilled units carry the attacks. With tirailleurs in front, they form a brigade of the young Republic.
