Background & context

Ab 1754 stießen britische und französische Ansprüche im Ohiotal aufeinander, zwei Jahre später war daraus ein Weltkrieg geworden. Die Linienregimenter, die London nach Amerika schickte, kamen mit europäischem Drill in ein Land aus Wald, Fluss und Blockhaus. Nach der Katastrophe am Monongahela 1755 lernte die Armee dazu: leichtere Ausrüstung, gekürzte Röcke, eigene Verbände für den Kleinkrieg. 1759 fiel Québec, 1763 war Neufrankreich verloren.

On the tabletop

British line infantry for the war over North America from 1754 to 1763: twelve musketeers and six command figures in metal come with a leaflet showing flags in full colour. In Black Powder they form your regular line that stands in close order and delivers the weight of volley fire that militia lacks. Historically these regiments learned to adapt to forest and river after the disaster on the Monongahela in 1755. Add rangers of the same period and it grows into a colonial army.
