Background & context

In the American Revolutionary War, artillery was often more difficult to employ than on European battlefields due to cost, availability, transport, and terrain. Nevertheless, light and medium guns played an important supporting role in many field battles. British Royal Artillery and Continental artillerists could achieve significant effects with round shot at range and canister at close quarters. The included mounted commanders expand the kit with command figures for both sides of the conflict.

On the tabletop

This box equips an American War of Independence army in Black Powder with artillery and command. You build the two guns as 3- or 6-pounders and crew them with either Royal Artillery or Continental Army gunners. At range they fire round shot, at close quarters case shot. The two mounted commanders, with six heads of well-known generals, lead your brigades, while Molly Pitcher and the two casualty figures dress the gun position as a scene.
