Background & context

After Crete in 1941 no German Fallschirmjäger formation jumped on a large scale again; the losses had been too high. The force remained an elite all the same, only on foot, and it was sent wherever a front threatened to break. In the winter of 1944/45 that meant the Ardennes: snow, fog and forests in which attacks were decided at visual range. Quilted winter clothing was no detail there but the precondition for a squad still being able to fight after a night in the open.

On the tabletop

In quilted winter suits these 30 Fallschirmjäger give you a Bolt Action platoon for the Ardennes winter of 1944/45, the Eastern Front or the mountains of Italy. Jump helmets, peaked caps and officers' caps let you build the platoon commander and the squads. The choice of weapons sets their role: Kar 98K and MG 42 for squads that shoot at longer range, StG 44, FG 42 and submachine guns for close-range fighting, and the Panzerfaust against vehicles. You can also build spotters for artillery.
