    Product details

    Background & context

Fallschirmjäger officers went through the same jump training as their men and led from the front, and that shaped the reputation of the arm just as much as the costly operations on Crete and at Monte Cassino. From 1944 hardly anyone jumped any more, and the formations fought as elite infantry in ground combat. They needed winter equipment in the Ardennes and in the Apennines, where cold, snow and long supply routes made the work of command harder than the fighting itself.

    On the tabletop

The command of your Fallschirmjäger platoon in winter clothing consists of four resin figures. Two officers are included: one watches the fighting through a cloud of cigar smoke, the other sends his men forward. The medic tends a wounded comrade, and the forward observer calls in artillery or air support over the radio. For Bolt Action they suit winter games in the Ardennes or the Apennines.
