    Background & context

    Zwischen 1795 und 1799 regierte das Direktorium, und die Armee wurde in diesen Jahren zu dem, was Europa danach fürchtete. Die Massenbataillone von 1793 waren mit den alten Linienregimentern verschmolzen, die Ausrüstung floss regelmäßiger, Offiziere stiegen über Können statt Geburt auf. In Italien und am Rhein schlugen diese Truppen Armeen, die auf dem Papier besser aussahen. Der Bikorn wurde in dieser Zeit zum Erkennungszeichen der Republik.

    On the tabletop

    Between 1795 and 1799 the mass battalions of the Revolution became an army that beat opponents in Italy and on the Rhine who looked stronger on paper. This regiment represents the French line of those years in bicorne and blue coat: 21 infantrymen plus a standard bearer, a musician and an officer. In Black Powder you use it as a regular line battalion that fires volleys and holds the front. With skirmishers ahead and more battalions alongside, it becomes a Republican brigade.
