    Product details

    Background & context

The Crimean War (1853-1856) pitted the Russian army against an alliance of the Ottoman Empire, Great Britain, France, and Sardinia. Russian forces had large numbers of troops but often suffered from outdated equipment, slow leadership, and logistical weaknesses. In Crimea, traditional linear tactics met new weapon ranges, siege warfare, and difficult supply situations.

    On the tabletop

In summer the Russian soldiers in the Crimea took off their heavy greatcoats and marched to the front in green and white uniforms. These eight metal figures show exactly that and suit scenarios from the summers of 1854 and 1855. In Black Powder they reinforce your Russian infantry, which lacks musketry training and relies mainly on the bayonet charge. For a battle in high summer, field them in place of the troops in greatcoats.
