Product details

Background & context

After the Grande Armée's retreat from Russia, Prussian and Russian horsemen fought against Napoleon in the same formations from 1813. Dragoons were regarded as the all-purpose arm: heavy enough for the charge, and trained well enough to hold roads and bridges on foot. Alongside them stood mounted Jäger and, in Prussia, the volunteer Jäger detachments, who provided their own horse and equipment. Until Waterloo in 1815 these regiments formed the backbone of the Allied cavalry.

On the tabletop

This box covers the Allied cavalry of 1813 to 1815. Depending on head and coat, Kollet or Litewka, the 14 figures become a squadron of dragoons, mounted Jäger or Prussian volunteers on horseback. You use dragoons as all-round cavalry that can charge and also hold roads and bridges on foot. The volunteers equipped themselves and suit a Prussian brigade as a small, distinctive detachment.
