    Hintergrund & Einordnung

    The Prussian Landwehr cavalry originated in 1813 as a mounted militia formation. By the Hundred Days Campaign, it had grown into a large force with numerous regiments. At Waterloo, it comprised a significant portion of Blücher's cavalry. Its equipment was usually simpler than that of regular cavalry, but it remained clearly geared towards field service.

    Einsatz im Spiel

    The Landwehr Cavalry augments Prussian armies with mounted militia troops featuring a versatile operational profile. In Black Powder, they can cover flanks, harass enemy light troops, and pursue battered units. In skirmish-oriented games like Sharp Practice or Sharpe's Rifles, they offer a characterful cavalry option for late Napoleonic Prussians.
