Product details

Background & context

Russian hussars were part of the light cavalry of the Tsarist army in the Crimean War. They were used for reconnaissance, outpost duty, and rapid movements, but also appeared in regular battles. The campaign highlighted the limitations of traditional cavalry against modern firepower and difficult terrain.

On the tabletop

This pack provides three mounted metal command figures for Russian hussars of the Crimean War. Light cavalry was directed by trumpet calls, and officers and trumpeters kept the squadron together after a charge. In Black Powder you place the group at the head of your hussars to mark the unit. When painting, you can choose between the colourful fur-trimmed uniform and the grey greatcoat with oilskin cover that the hussars wore for most of the campaign.
