Background & context

Der Krimkrieg von 1853 bis 1856 brachte Russland gegen Großbritannien, Frankreich, das Osmanische Reich und Sardinien in einen Konflikt, der vor allem eines war: zäh. Nach den Feldschlachten an der Alma, bei Balaklawa und Inkerman verlagerte sich alles in die elf Monate dauernde Belagerung von Sewastopol. Die russische Fußartillerie feuerte dort aus festen Stellungen und wurde für die Angreifer zum teuersten Hindernis des ganzen Krieges.

On the tabletop

This 12-pounder with four crew brings the heavy Russian foot artillery of the Crimean War to Black Powder. Before Sevastopol it fired from fixed positions, so on the tabletop you place the gun at the start of the game where it has a clear field of fire. From there you engage British, French or Ottoman troops while they are still approaching. Add further guns to form a battery for the Alma or Inkerman.
