Background & context

The Scots Greys were a British dragoon regiment, particularly known for their grey horses. In the Crimean War, they were part of the Heavy Brigade under Sir James Scarlett. At Balaklava, the Heavy Brigade attacked a significantly larger Russian cavalry formation, thereby securing the British supply base. This command set depicts the leadership group of this heavy cavalry formation.

On the tabletop

The dragoon regiment named after its grey horses, the Scots Greys, receives three mounted command figures in metal with this set. In Black Powder the three lead your unit of heavy cavalry and make it instantly recognisable during the battle. In the Crimea in 1854 the Greys belonged to Scarlett's Heavy Brigade. At Balaclava they charged with the other dragoons against some 3,000 Russian horsemen, protecting the Highlanders and the British supply base.
