Product details

Background & context

At the beginning of the Crimean War in 1853, the Rifle Brigade dispatched two battalions. Warlord and trader texts mention deployments at Alma, Inkerman, and during the Siege of Sevastopol. At the start of the campaign, parts of the Rifle Brigade still wore the traditional shako before the softer field cap was increasingly used. This command set depicts the leading figures of this formation in their early Crimean War appearance.

On the tabletop

Wearing the shako of the early Crimean War, these four command figures lead your Rifle Brigade in Black Powder. Because riflemen in open order were spread far apart, officers had to lead from the front and NCOs carried more responsibility than in the line. Together with the riflemen in shakos, your unit gains a visible head. The brigade fought at the Alma, at Inkerman and before Sevastopol, where several of its men received the Victoria Cross.
