Product details

Background & context

The Rifle Brigade sent two battalions to the Crimean War and fought at Alma, Inkerman, and during the Siege of Sevastopol. During the campaign, softer field caps increasingly replaced the traditional shako. Command figures depict officers and leaders of this light infantry. This makes the set particularly suitable for supplementing Rifle Brigade formations in the Crimean War.

On the tabletop

This Rifle Brigade command wears the soft forage cap instead of the shako, matching the later phase of the Crimean War. The four metal figures lead a unit of riflemen that fights in open order ahead of the line in Black Powder. Because the men were widely spread out, leadership only worked from the front. Add the riflemen in forage caps and command and rank and file are dressed alike.
