Product details

Background & context

During the Crimean War, the Rifle Brigade was one of the British Army's experienced light infantry formations. Its battalions fought at Alma and Inkerman, among other places, and during the Siege of Sevastopol. The softer forage cap was increasingly worn in the field instead of the traditional shako. This set depicts the Rifle Brigade's campaign look in metal miniatures.

On the tabletop

Before Sevastopol the riflemen of the Rifle Brigade lay in the foremost trenches, having swapped the shako for the forage cap. These eight metal figures show them just like that. In Black Powder you use them as skirmishers working ahead of your line with accurate fire, or for scenarios from the siege between autumn 1854 and September 1855. With the command figures in forage caps they form a uniform detachment.
