Background & context

The 13th Light Dragoons were part of the British Light Brigade during the Crimean War. In the Battle of Balaklava, they were at the center of the famous Charge of the Light Brigade, which, despite great bravery, resulted in heavy losses. Later, the regiment was also involved in the operations around Inkerman and Sevastopol. Command figures represent the leadership of such cavalry units and are particularly suitable for scenarios from 1854.

On the tabletop

This pack gives you three mounted command figures as the leadership group for a regiment of light dragoons of the Light Brigade. In Black Powder you place them at the head of the unit, so that the officer and his regiment can be recognised at once on the table. Light horsemen were really meant for scouting, outpost duty and pursuit, hardly for a frontal attack. For the ride into the valley at Balaclava under Lord Cardigan in October 1854, they lead your 13th Light Dragoons.
