Product details

Background & context

The British Light Dragoons were part of the British Army's light cavalry during the Crimean War. They became particularly well-known for their involvement at Balaklava, where the 13th Light Dragoons participated in the Charge of the Light Brigade. The attack demonstrated the courage of the cavalrymen involved, but also the risks of traditional cavalry tactics against modern firepower. The unit therefore represents one of the most significant turning points in 19th-century cavalry history.

On the tabletop

Three metal riders add to a unit of British light dragoons for the Crimean War in Black Powder. Your paint scheme decides whether they belong to the 13th Light Dragoons or to another regiment of the Light Brigade. Light cavalry scouts, screens its own army and pursues beaten enemies, but it is better kept away from formed infantry. The best-known scenario is Balaclava, where the 13th Light Dragoons rode in the front rank through the Russian guns.
