Product details

Background & context

The Foot Guards held a special position within the British infantry during the Crimean War. Unlike many line regiments, the Guard regiments provided several battalions, including the Grenadier Guards, Coldstream Guards, and Scots Fusilier Guards. At Inkerman, parts of the Guards held out under difficult conditions against strong Russian attacks. Their role makes them a central elite unit for British Crimean War armies.

On the tabletop

Guards infantry went where a position must not fall under any circumstances. At Inkerman on 5 November 1854 the Foot Guards held an isolated position in the fog against overwhelming Russian numbers. In Black Powder the eight metal figures form the core of a Guards unit beside the line regiments of your British army. The Grenadier, Coldstream and Scots Fusilier Guards each fielded several battalions, and you decide which regiment you represent when you paint them.
