Background & context

Ein britisches Feldgeschütz hatte 1815 drei Munitionsarten im Protzkasten: Vollkugeln für die Distanz, Schrapnell für den mittleren Bereich und Kartätschen für alles darunter. Der 9-Pfünder nutzte diese Bandbreite besser aus als die leichteren Rohre, weil er mehr Ladung und mehr Kugeln pro Schuss trug. Auf dem Höhenrücken bei Waterloo waren es genau solche Batterien, die den französischen Kavallerieangriffen zwischen den Karrees Löcher rissen.

On the tabletop

This 9-pounder with four Royal Artillery gunners adds a heavier field gun to your British army of 1815 in Black Powder. Roundshot reaches far across the battlefield, shrapnel works at medium range and canister stops attackers up close. That lets you engage infantry columns and cavalry at long range. Placed on the Waterloo ridge between your infantry squares, it helps break the French cavalry attacks.
