Background & context

Wellington's successes in the Iberian Peninsula rested less on numbers than on a two-rank line that brought more muskets to bear at once than the French column. In front of it there were almost always light troops, wearing the enemy down while he was still advancing. Between 1808 and 1815 this interplay ran practically unchanged from Vimeiro by way of Salamanca to Waterloo. The green-jacketed riflemen of the 95th made their own legend out of it.

On the tabletop

The 36 line infantrymen build a British battalion for the Peninsula and Waterloo, while the four riflemen form the skirmish screen in front. On the table the battalion fights in two ranks and brings many muskets to bear at once, while the riflemen engage approaching columns before they arrive. Four flags and a uniform guide are included. Further boxes give you a brigade of the kind Wellington led from Vimeiro to Waterloo.
