    Product details

    Background & context

British heavy cavalry was notorious for setting off once and then being impossible to rein in. At Waterloo the Union Brigade with the Scots Greys overthrew d'Erlon's attack columns, rode on as far as the French batteries and was cut to pieces there by lancers. From 1812 the dragoon regiments wore a new crested helmet, while the Greys kept the bearskin cap, in the field often under an oilskin cover against the rain.

    On the tabletop

With the helmet you build British line dragoons, with the bearskin the Scots Greys, optionally with the oilskin cover they wore at Waterloo. As heavy cavalry they ride the counter-attack against advancing infantry, like the Union Brigade against d'Erlon's columns. After a successful charge they are hard to rein in, so keep fresh troops ready. The twelve riders with officer, trumpeter and sapper suit the Peninsula from 1813, the campaign in France and Waterloo.
