Hintergrund & Einordnung

The British Commandos were formed in 1940 on the express order of Prime Minister Winston Churchill to actively take the war back to the enemy after the evacuation from France. As purely volunteer units, they recruited across all branches of the armed forces. The Inter-Allied Commando Regiment united soldiers from occupied countries such as Belgium, Poland, and the Netherlands under one roof. Their operational history includes operations in Europe, Burma, and Africa - with the Raid on St. Nazaire as one of the most famous commando operations of the entire war.
