Background & context

The Commandos' reputation was made on the raids: Vågsøy at the end of 1941, but above all St. Nazaire in March 1942, where a converted destroyer was rammed into the dry dock. Later the Commando brigades no longer fought only as a raiding force but as assault formations in the Normandy landings. Fire support there came from the Royal Marines Armoured Support Group, whose Centaur IV with its short 95mm howitzer fired directly at bunkers and positions.

On the tabletop

For the HQ you get two metal officers straight away, joined by a medic and a radio operator. The 36 multi-pose Commandos are enough for three sections, whose poses you mix freely. The MMG and mortar teams give the advance covering fire from the rear. The Centaur IV in resin and metal is not a tank for duels: with its howitzer it shoots buildings and positions clear before the Commandos go in. That puts an aggressive platoon with plenty of leadership on the table, made for landings and raids.
