Background & context

In 1879 a British column marched into Zululand and lost an entire battalion at Isandlwana; a few hours later a handful of men held the mission station at Rorke's Drift. That mixture of overconfidence and discipline shapes the image of the war to this day. The same regiments had served shortly before in the Ninth Cape Frontier War and a little later faced the Boers. The home service helmets included also open the unit up for scenarios at home.

On the tabletop

The 38 redcoats represent British infantry in the Zulu War of 1879, from Isandlwana to the defence of Rorke's Drift. The same figures suit the Ninth Cape Frontier War and the fighting against the Boers, and with the Home Service helmets also troops at home. Two heliographs give your company a signal post, and the four wounded figures fit a besieged position. With four pairs of colours you can represent several battalions.
