Background & context

The winter of 1944/45 in North-West Europe was a second enemy for British and Canadian formations. On the way through the flooded lowlands of the Scheldt, the Rhineland and finally into Germany, the wet caused just as many casualties as German fire. Greatcoats, leather jerkins and balaclavas were part of the basic kit, and anyone who did not wear them dropped out sooner or later. The Scottish battalions kept their bonnets all the same, cold or no cold.

On the tabletop

Wearing greatcoats and leather jerkins, the 30 figures of this platoon represent British and Canadian troops in north-west Europe in the winter of 1944/45. From the sprues you build a Bolt Action platoon commander, rifle sections with light machine gun and SMG options, engineer sections with a flamethrower, and PIAT, light mortar, flamethrower and sniper teams. Head options include steel helmets, balaclavas, General Service caps and bonnets for Scottish units. You can also make spotters for indirect fire weapons.
