    Background & context

    The British infantry section consisted of ten men and split into two halves in action: a Bren group that suppressed and a rifle group that advanced. This simple division carried the army through Sicily, Italy, Normandy and the advance into the Netherlands. The Tam O'Shanter, the soft cap of the Scottish regiments, was also worn by Canadian Highland units. With the right heads, the same box therefore becomes an entirely different army.

    On the tabletop

    The 30 figures build British or Canadian sections for Bolt Action, with steel helmets or with Tam O'Shanters for Scottish and Canadian Highland units. As in reality, a section splits into the Bren group, which pins the enemy down, and the riflemen with Lee Enfield No 4 rifles, who move forward. Sten guns go to the section leaders, the PIAT deals with tanks and the 2-inch mortar fires in an arc over cover. Theatres are Sicily, Italy, Normandy and the Netherlands.
