    Background & context

    From June 1944 the British 21st Army Group advanced through Normandy side by side with Canadian formations, and both armies worked to the same pattern: first the artillery, then the attack. The Canadian divisions took on some of the hardest tasks along the way, from Juno Beach through the breakout at Caen to the liberation of the Scheldt estuary in the autumn. The Cromwell gave the reconnaissance regiments the speed they needed, while the 6-pounder assured the infantry battalions an anti-tank defence of their own.

    On the tabletop

    British sections are built around their LMG, and that is exactly how you approach the 36 infantrymen: riflemen grouped around the LMG, plus light mortars and PIATs that operate as small teams of their own. Because the 16 crew figures are interchangeable, you can use them to man the 6-pounder anti-tank gun and the weapons teams without committing yourself at the gluing stage. The Cromwell brings speed to your tank support, while the Humber drives ahead and secures the flank. The decal sheet carries both British and Canadian markings, so you only decide at the painting stage which army your force belongs to.
